Announcement of the Boston GreenFest 2011 Metro Boston GreenBest Award

The Foundation for a Green Future, Inc. and the Boston Metro would like to recognize the most exemplary and environmentally responsible exhibitors at Boston GreenFest 2011 with the Metro Boston GreenBest Award. This applies to all exhibitors, sponsors, and vendors - small and large, nonprofit and for-profit.

The finalists will be announced in the Boston Metro and at the award ceremony. The grand prize winner will have a feature editorial in the Boston Metro and will receive a plaque from Mayor Menino and the Editor-in-Chief of the Metro at a special ceremony at Boston GreenFest.

The winner's booth will receive special placement.

To qualify for this award, your organization must be registered and paid up by Friday, July 29, 2011. To enter this contest, please submit a 250 word statement that highlights the outstanding qualities of your organization by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2011. Please email statement to the Coordinator. Below are guidelines reflecting our chief areas of focus. These guidelines, however, should in no way limit your response.

At the top of your submission, please include your name, company name, address, business telephone, cellphone, email, and company website url or the application will not be considered complete.

Guidelines for Metro Boston GreenBest Award Presented by Boston Metro and Foundation for a Green Future, Inc.

  • Environmentally-focused mission statement or business model
  • Promotion of social justice
  • Commitment to the environment that goes above and beyond the competition
  • Leader in community outreach programs
  • Is setting goals for future improvement on current green practices
  • Both socially and environmentally responsible in how the company sources/manufactures/markets their products and/or services
  • Educating the consumer on what the company is doing environmentally
  • Does not promote "greenwashing" (The use of marketing to promote a misleading perception that a company is environmentally friendly)
  • Educating employees on how they can reduce impact on the environment (at work/at home)
  • Company that is "value-driven" as well as profit-driven through a triple bottom line
  • Promotes responsible transportation practices with employees as well as through the supply chain
  • Is committed to "greening" the environment in some way through green roofs, living walls, raised bed gardens, etc.
